Hello, I'm Hannah!

As a little girl, I would take walks on my family's acreage with my cat and a snack and imagine that we were in a secret garden, or headed west during the Gold Rush, or exploring the Amazon (only child activities, am I right?!). My nickname was Elliott and my favorite spot on the farm was (and still is) the tree-lined lane that opened to our pasture. On hot summer days it would provide shade and mulberries and on autumn evenings it was the last place on the farm that you could see the sunset. 

As I got older, my adventures on the farm dwindled and after college I moved to the east coast for my career. But any time I was asked "if you won the lottery what would you do?" or "if you could do anything else, what would it be?", my answer was the same. I dreamed of filling our pasture with wildflowers and walking through it on warm summer nights.

After almost a decade working in the fashion industry, I packed up my things and drove a moving truck from New York City back home to Iowa. My plan was to take a few months off and then look for work and try something new. You know the saying 'We make plans and God laughs'? It was first week of March 2020. Suddenly, I had a lot of months off! I bought my first pack of seeds and a book on cut flowers.

Over the next couple of years, I grew a lot of flowers. And I killed a lot of flowers! But I quickly fell in love with the hope that growing brings, the energy that comes from getting your hands in the soil, and the joy that a vase full of flowers can add to a home. It was then that the idea of Elliott Lane was born; I wanted to rediscover the joy of that little girl who explored the farm and found adventure around every corner. And I wanted to share it with others!
